Nothing like a roving mob of mean pre-teens. Just thinking about it I can feel the anger rise. Crouched in the garden, listening in horror to a shouting match of kids as they harrass a homeless woman.
As the storm moves toward me they howl grating strings of profanity at each other, pausing only for breath. The wanton cruelty of this group of kids rakes the street. The woman clings blindly to one line which she repeats and repeats at the top of her lungs, long after they have left: You go get your momma, you bring your momma here and tell her what you're doing.
I shudder and glimpse the appeal of suburbia.
