Just back from a wonderful lunch with a potential mentor. Working with mentors is one of the strongest threads I've got. Today a career mentor inspired and reinvigorated me to pursue new opportunities, to think beyond my current circumstances as to what I can really contribute to the world. While sometimes a conversation opens unresolved questions or I feel awkward or vulnerable describing my dilemmas, the outcome is almost universally positive. Lunch with a mentor is like fresh air during a long day at work. And overall having mentors allows me to be more fully present and effective in other professional relationships.
Learning to be a mentor seems equally rewarding, though I am not as confident in my skills thereof. Check out this promising resource on the art of being a mentor and/or a mentee
