Birds sing and brakes scream

Small details leapt out on this morning's walk to work. A shrill bird song cuts through the roar of traffic in front of the corner hotel. Looking up I see fluffy down and a long drooping tail, the culprit and my teacher for the day. One block later I am shocked out of my shoes by screaming bus brakes. (Um, maintenance anyone?) At this point the earplugs went in yet still I remained in a mood of noticing.

On days like these it is as if my mind shifts gears and the blur of activities during the day slows down. I'm not sure what brings this about, but it's definitely possible to be nearly as busy without actually feeling overwhelmed. Perhaps that's the reason for the blog.
